Our Promise of Community & Climate Action
We give back 10% of our revenue, not our profits.
Activism isn’t our brand strategy, it’s who we are. Countless companies invest tens of thousands of dollars co-opting social justice movements for marketing purposes — see: corporate Pride logos not accompanied by material investments in LGBTQ+ equity, representation, and care. That’s not our style. We believe in putting our money where our mouth is, and contribute 10% of our revenue to directly meeting community needs and creating a more equitable and sustainable society.
We love too many causes to name them all here, and remain flexible so our resources go to where they are most needed. Some examples of actions we support include:
Local mutual aid groups that support Seattle’s unhoused and marginalized residents.
City, county, and state grass roots political campaigns — not PACs — that promote inclusive and progressive policies.
Climate action non-profit organizations.
Supportive, gender-affirming services for trans youth.
Anti-racist activism and education efforts.
In an effort to remain transparent and accountable to the community and our clients, we will publish an annual report detailing the specific causes and campaigns we supported at the end of each calendar year, beginning in December 2021 (the year Stow Away officially launched).
We recognize that this aspect of our business might not appeal to some prospective clients, and we’re okay with that. In the 21st century, we think embracing a values-driven business model is a cultural imperative, and doing so will help us sleep better at the end of a long day serving those who do choose to work with us.
In addition to our financial commitments, our business operations will always be equity-centered. If you are an LGBTQ+, BIPOC, or woman entrepreneur whose products and services align with ours, we’d love to partner with you. If you believe a cause is worth supporting, we’re open to your recommendations and requests for contributions. Drop us a line!
